Hello and welcome to Year 2! I am Miss Scanlon, the class teacher, and we will be supported by Miss Edwards, our class teaching assistant. We are both looking forward to teaching and helping your child develop academically and spiritually over the course of Year 2. During this year, myself, alongside Miss Edwards, will help your child to develop the skills required to become confident, reflective and resilient learner. Here in Year 2 we aim to provide your children with active and engaging learning experiences which will become a lasting memory for them.
Reading is very important in Year 2 and there is an expectation that children should read at least 3 times a week. We understand that family life is busy and even if you are only able to read a few pages, this will be beneficial to your child. It would be great if you could sign your child’s reading diary and leave a short comment. Our PE day is Wednesday. The children will be given Maths and English homework on a Friday which is due in on the following Wednesday. They will also have Weekly Spellings to learn.
As always, parents and carers are welcome to ask questions and raise any concerns they have, with either, myself or Miss Edwards.
We are looking forward to working with you to help your child reach their full potential at St Gregory’s.
Year 2 will do Athletics and Healthy Lifestyles in P.E. on Wednesday. For more information about PE kit requirements and expectations, please visit our uniform page.
